Where Do You Want To Go?

Okay, so now you’re all pumped up to be in-charge of yourself. Now you’re ready to take on anything for the cause of productivity and self-motivation.

Are you?

Maybe. Maybe, If this is a journey and you have a map you’ll probably ask people, “which road do I take now?”. Right? Well, it might surprise you that Alice, the girl that was lost in Wonderland asked the same question. In that classic story by Lewis Carrol, Alice asked the Chesire cat this:

“..Would you tell me please, which
way I ought to go from here?”

That depends a good deal on where
you want to get to said the cat.

I don’t much care where, said Alice.

Then it doesn’t matter which way you go, said the cat.

You see the drift? What is it do you really want to achieve? Where do you really want to be after X number of years working in this organization? Better yet, the best question is WHY? Simon Sinek, founder of startwithwhy.com in his famous TED talk said great leaders starts with WHY? Why am I doing what I’m doing? Is it for money? Fame? Power? I’m sure your organization can offer you one or maybe all three of these, but as one of my favorite authors, Don Miller said:

“If you’re motivated by money, fame or power you’ve yet to find your deepest passion. It’s there. Dig deeper.” – Don Miller

Find that innate reason inside of you why you do the things you do everyday. It’s called PURPOSE and I am pretty sure it goes beyond trivial things.

In a map, there are always at least two points, point A and point B. When you know your purpose, you know your “point B”. If you define the win, you tend to live intentionally, deliberately, like an archer aiming for that red dot. If you don’t know your purpose, then everything that sounds good is a win. No wonder some people jumps from one workplace to another and find themselves…empty. Stop going around in circles! Find your purpose. Know where you want to go!

It’s something that will keep you wanting to go to work. It’s something that makes you smile at the end of your day and feel fulfilled. It’s something that goes beyond what you see in your pay slip. Look for it. Dig deeper.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. [Ephesians 3:20, NLT]
